Petagogy - A New Pet Store in Shadyside

Petagogy is a new pet store in Shadyside that opened on June 4th. The store is owned by Elsie, Ben, Cole, and Heather together with their dogs Bumble Bee, Jack, and Deeka. Petagogy is located on Ellsworth Ave just across the street from the East End Veterinary Medical Center. Last Thursday I headed over there to check it out. I met Heather and Cole, and Deeka who showed me their amazing selection of pet foods, treats, and toys. Petagogy wants to help pet owners in their community to learn about the great foods out there that are natural, organic and healthy, and help them make informed decisions about what to feed their pets.

This is Cole, Heather, and their dog Deeka. They adopted the Corgi Chihuahua mix from Animal Friends a little over a year ago and it completely changed their life. As new pet owners they did a ton of research. They wanted to find foods that weren't corn-based like the ones that you typically find in regular grocery stores. Since there wasn't a store in their neighborhood that sold the healthy foods that they were looking for, Petagogy was born.

Petagogy offers everything from healthy natural pet foods, dog beds, collars, leashes, treats, bones, and lots and lots of toys. The store is painted in bright colors that makes for a fun experience.

There are lots, and lots of healthy natural pet food brands to choose from. The owners are very knowledgeable and passionate to help choose a type of food that is best for your pet.Petagogy | Pittsburgh Pet Photography by Jenny Karlsson

Kongs, squeakers, and chew toys in all shapes and sizes. The rubber mustache (top right) looks hilarious.

What a great idea to have a built-in water bowl by the check-out counter.Petagogy | Pittsburgh Pet Photography by Jenny Karlsson

Deeka told me that I should spread the word that pets are welcome in the store. Petagogy | Pittsburgh Pet Photography by Jenny Karlsson

I left the store with a bag full of goodies. I think that the venison liver treats and the giant squeaky toy is going to be a hit with my photography clients. A big thank you to Heather and Cole who showed me around in the store. I can't wait to go back.
